Get books that write themselves as you work
Every invoice, receipt, pay run and production run posts as it happens. The month closes because the work was recorded.
A chart you did not build
Switch on what you use and the accounts you need appear, named and wired to the things that post to them. Add your own on top.
Entries you never typed
Each document knows its own accounting. Sell something and the sale, the tax and what it cost you all land in one action.
Trace any figure back
Open a balance and see the documents behind it, and who they were with, however long ago it was.
A month you can close
Work through what is outstanding, post what you need to, close it, and reopen it if you have to. All of it recorded.
Start with a chart that already fits
A new system hands you an empty chart, or somebody else’s with four hundred accounts. The first month goes on building it.
Switch on what you use and the accounts appear, named, grouped and wired to what posts to them. Add your own alongside.
See how the ledger worksAdd accounts as the business changes
Create your own accounts under the right headings, group them the way you report, and move transactions posted to the wrong place. The accounts the system posts to are known by what they do: rename them freely, delete them never.
See how reports workPost the work, not the paperwork
Somebody sits down at month end with a pile of documents and types journals. It takes a week and one keying error is invisible.
Each kind of document knows its own accounting. Raising it is the entry. There is no gap between the work and the books.
See how invoicing worksLet each document carry its own accounting
An invoice, a receipt, a bill, a pay run and a production run each post the way that kind of transaction should. Decided once, in the system.
See how invoicing worksWrite the entries only a person can write
Accruals, corrections, the ones that repeat, and reversals. Write them in batches, set the recurring ones to repeat, and reverse rather than delete.
See how period close worksWhat holds the ledger together
The parts that make a set of books trustworthy rather than merely complete.
The books are already written.
Close the month and keep it closed
The month is finished, then somebody backdates an invoice into it and last month’s figures quietly change.
Work through what is outstanding, post the adjustments, and close it. Reopening is a deliberate act rather than a side effect.
See how the ledger worksTrace any figure back to its cause
Open an account in a closed period and see the documents behind the balance. When somebody asks in nine months, the answer is two clicks.
See how reports workThe period-close checklist: what is unreconciled, what sits uncategorised, what does not balance, with the period’s trial balance beside it. Awaiting a capture of the close screen before this section is composed.
Not a ledger you keep in step
They read the same accounts and the same books. Every document type carries its own posting, so nothing arrives by retyping.
Controlled the way everything here is controlled
Nothing here is entered by hand
Questions people ask first
Do I have to write journals?
Not for ordinary work. Every document knows its own accounting, so raising an invoice, taking a payment or finishing a production run is the entry. Journals are for the exceptions.
What does a sale actually post?
Receivable, sales, tax, and where you hold stock, cost of sales and stock, in one action. You can open any invoice and read the entries it wrote.
Do I have to build a chart of accounts?
No. Say what kind of business you run and the accounts appear, named, grouped and wired to what posts to them. Add your own alongside.
Can I rename the accounts?
Rename freely. What you cannot do is delete the ones the system posts to, because it knows them by what they do rather than what they are called.
What happens when somebody makes a mistake?
It is reversed, and both the original and the reversal stay. Nothing disappears from the books because somebody preferred it had not happened.
Can somebody backdate into a closed month?
Not once it is closed. Reopening is a deliberate act that is recorded, rather than something that happens as a side effect of a document being dated.
Can I see what is behind a balance?
Open the account and the documents that made it are listed beneath, in any period including a closed one, with the party each was with.
Does it handle more than one currency?
Yes. You keep books in one currency and trade in others, with the difference recognised rather than absorbed quietly.
Can my accountant work in it?
Yes, with a role that reaches the books and nothing else. They see the ledger, the trial balance and the documents behind any balance.
How do I bring in my opening balances?
Import the trial balance and the sub-ledgers behind it, then check they agree before you start. That check is the whole of a good start.
Watch a sale become an entry
Raise an invoice, then look at the journal it wrote, the accounts it hit and the trial balance it moved.
